Republication of Scott Taylor’s low tech anti-blog blog in search of hi-tech art-science.
Zhang Kai, a brilliant Chinese art and design student whom I befriended in Xi’an, has asked why I call this anti-blog blog for my friends “Hi Cybernaughts!”
Well it’s like this. In classical mythology we find Jason and the Argonaughts. Jason was the husband of Medea, and the hero and anti-hero who along with a band of followers went in search of The Golden Fleece.
The Golden Fleece was thought by the ancient Greek geographer Strabo to refer to a method of catching gold flecks washed down stream, that is, to a particular technology. This technology was a method employed to the east of the Black Sea in Georgia. In some poetic contexts the fleece is symbolic of the wealth and technology of the Georgian state Colchis.
The name of the ship which Jason and his band sailed was called Argo after its architect builder. During the lengthy voyage it had to be repaired many times, and so by the time the ship had completed its voyage it was quite literally a completely different vessel than it was when it departed. So the Argo can be seen as a symbol of transformation by virtue of technological means.
The prefix “cyber” is found in “cybernetics.” The Greek root means steersman, pilot, governor or rudder, and is the same root as is used in the Greek word for government. In the contemporary world “cybernetics” is the study of systems in terms of circular, causal, feedback. And, of course, it is found in the word “cyberspace” which refers to the global network designated by the Internet.
Similar to the reconstructive process that underwent the Argo, as we journey by, through and with cyberspace we are currently reconstructing our sense of time and space, our psycho-physiology, our culture and our government. In some ways the internet can be seen as a model of an ultimate technological Golden Fleece. And we are like the Argonaughts, but better called Cybernaughts. As cybernaughts or art-scientists together we are attempting to mine the gold or values of our imaginations and intellects through virtual means.
Hi Cybernaughts!

andrew its bipple, mitzkahdrinnen on twitter, check this guy out
his name is Alan Moore not the comic book writer, he's an author
I think you'll find he would be an interesting guy to have in on the conversations on momday ... <---HA!
Anyway, he's more insightful than Rollins, not to take anything away from Hank, he's creating contrast at the very least.
Nice. Thank you. Will follow up.
come to think of it andrew, i recall, and forgive me for not commenting in the correct context eventhough its all linear and the same in this landscape that of....the perception(s)
in one of the enemy session bob asks if you've seen jacques tati, i use playtime (tati film) in my first mcluhan clip of three, the only one i haven't had to re upload buzz actually completely incorporated it when he was mycluein, ill repost it along with a ghost in the shell reference no one has mentioned yet
last comment at least for today, andrew i believe i mentioned on twitter how the hindering aspect of copyright infringement is THE most important issue of the corpus colosum state of mind humans find themselves in. scott mentioned it in terms of his word, which isn't his word but is, in a different context, mary mentioned it with regard to city as classroom.
sasha's daughter's friends are the demographic with no formal recognition of the western ramification of copyright and it is the only issue when it comes to expression.
we have to filter it tetradically
